L’ objectif ambitieux d’ :: :: ARTBITE :: :: est de confronter des œuvres d’art originales, parfois anonymes, afin de les mettre en résonance avec les processus dynamiques de transformation et les lois de l’Univers, perceptibles par nos cinq sens, théorisées à l’aide du langage et des schémas dans les sciences amusantes des mathématiques, de la physique, de la chimie, de la biologie etc.

Performance dans laquelle Valie Export porte une boite en carton qui dissimule ses seins nus. La boite possède un petit rideau comme un mini théâtre ou un mini cinéma, et Valie Export, dans la rue, invite les passants à toucher ses seins à travers la boîte.

Valie Export also uses the photo-collage medium to examine the ideological content of a famous art-historical model, in this case Michelangelo's ‘Piet‡' from St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome. The exaggerated depiction of suffering and the idealized portrayal of woman as mother is confronted with the crude realism of a housewife's everyday life, here symbolized by the washing machine (a variant on the same motif is Export's ‘Strickmadonna' with a knitting machine).
Valie Export « Venus and Mars » 1976
In similar fashion to her video work with historical superimpositions, Valie Export uses a collage of self-portrait and a famous art-historical model – in this case, Botticelli's ‘Venus and Mars', 1483 – to investigate what she calls the historical ‘archive of body postures'. Through her identification with an idealized female figure in a mythological painting, the unchanging portrayal of woman through the ages is abruptly called into question.
